It’s never too hot for a party when there’s wine involved, and revellers certainly didn’t get beat by the heat at this year’s third annual Day Dance Festival held on Saturday 2 March.
Nestled in the heart of McLaren Vale, Simon Hackett Wines was once again transformed into an outdoor concert complete with pumping dance floor as festival goers flocked to “wine country” to reign in the start of “Mad March”.
Melbourne’s very own up-and-coming musical talent Didirri (yes, that’s his real name!) graced the stage to mesmerise audiences with his live acoustic set at 2:30pm, with rotating DJ’s taking over at 3:30pm to provide all the bangers ’till twilight.

The good guys from Sunny’s Pizza were out in full force serving up their well-renowned pizzas that well and truly are the best in the biz. With their portable wood fire pizza oven fired up, guests could soak up the vino with hot and fresh slices fresh outta the kiln.
Gang Gang also brought their signature yellow food van to the party (which induced plenty of “spotto” punches from diehard players of the never-ending game). With burgers named after pop culture references and Top 40 hits, Gang Gang won over guest’s hearts (and stomachs!) with their burger and fries combos that were to die for.
For all those saving their pennies (broke uni students, I’m with you), the event also allowed guests to BYO food – whether it was a cooler or plastic bag filled with edible delights, or homemade grazing boards to pair with the vino that was flowing all afternoon long.
A large outdoor wine bar served up an endless array of wines ranging from white, sparkling, red and rosé. For those who had a taste for something other than grapes, apple and pear Somersby Ciders, UDLs and Moon Dog Brewery Beers were also available for purchase.

Being the environmentally-conscious role models that they are, Day Dance once again ensured that the entire event was single-use-plastic free. For just $2 extra with your first wine purchase, you were able to hire a polycarbonate reusable glass with the ‘Day Dance’ brand printed on the front.
For the first time ever, Day Dance also went completely cashless – making it so much more convenient to pay by just whipping out your trusty card and tapping or swiping away.

To help guests keep their cool and beat the heat, a water mist archway greeted you with a refreshing spritz as you walked beneath it upon arrival. Plenty of free water, sunscreen and everyone’s childhood favourite Zooper Zooper cool pops were also on offer all afternoon long.

Day Dance was brought to you by the ingenious brains behind Summercrawl and the festival’s night-time counterpart, Moon Dance. The ace event planners have also just recently announced that they will be hosting the popular Sea & Vines wine tour festival coming in June, so be sure to stay tuned to their socials for more to come!
Thank-you so much for having us, Day Dance!

Catch you at another cafe,
Tayla x
