Following a sold out debut at Adelaide Fringe Festival, the 2000s are once again making a comeback and bringing sexy back to this year’s Cabaret Fringe Festival with Naughty Noughties: a tribute to the iconic era that was the early 2000s.

Hosted by up-and-coming producer Phoebe Ophidia, Naughty Noughties takes centre stage at Adelaide’s premier rooftop cocktail bar and burlesque venue Nineteen Ten, where stunning poolside views of the city skyline provide the perfect backdrop for celebrating all things naughty from the noughties.

The first performer to command the stage is interstate icon Saint Eve. Hailing from Melbourne, Saint Eve describes themselves as “masc fem, ying yang” with plenty of “sass swag”: and boy, do they deliver just that. Sporting a pair of six inch rhinestone studded stilettos and a vibrant orange number looking just like Charmander straight out of Pokémon, Saint Eve slinks amongst the audience and saunters on stage with a self-assured confidence that will take your breath away. For those wanting to learn how to master the art of the tease from a seasoned professional, Saint Eve will be running a 90-minute Burlesque Workshop this Sunday 2 June upstairs at Essential Talent, Adelaide. Be sure to snap up your tickets to this unmissable masterclass here.

No tribute to the early 2000s is complete without paying homage to the “Princess of Pop” herself: Lady Gaga. Rocking a choppy blonde bob complete with “disco stick” in hand, Winchester Angel channels her inner diva with a sultry and sassy rendition of Gaga’s ‘LoveGame’. It’s giving Bratz doll energy as she struts her stuff on stage whilst donning a disco ball bra and glittery thigh-high boots. Avid Adelaide Cabaret Fringe Festival goers can also see Winchester Angel performing at The Cinematic Sinners Presents: Burlesque the Movie this Sunday 2 June at Nineteen Ten.

Up next unleashing his inner emo is Sebastian Wolf with a tribute to Lincoln Park. Arriving on stage enveloped in darkness, what lies underneath his black cloak and wolf mask is an exotic feast for the eyes: a seductive, strappy ensemble complete with a wolf’s tail (which seems only fitting for Sebastian Wolf). Prepare to be enthralled by his silk fan routine where vibrant red satin resembles rippling flames with each flick of the wrist. Holding himself with poise and prowess, Sebastian Wolf commands the crowds with a fierce wolf-like ferocity unlike any other.

Turning up the heat with her devilishly daring fire act is performer turned producer and hostess with the mostess Phoebe Ophidia. Arriving on stage pretty in sequinned pink, she strips down to a hot Barbie pink lingerie set before setting hearts ablaze with a masterful manipulation of fire. From setting her pins and arms aflame with fire batons, to hypnotising audiences with her mesmerising fire fans, prepare to have your palms sweaty, heart racing, adrenaline pumping. Phoebe Ophidia is a star on the rise and certainly one to keep an eye on, as she is also producing and starring in Eyes to Stone playing this Saturday 1 June at Nineteen Ten.

RnB and bubblegum pop may have had its time to shine in the early 2000s, but pop punk and emo lives on in Letitia Stitch’s rendition of Green Day’s powerhouse anthems Holiday and American Idiot, proving once and for all that “it’s not a phase, mum.” Rocking up on stage dressed as scene king Gerard Way complete with the iconic black emo hairdo, red tie and black suit, Letitia Stitch makes a powerful statement as she dons a George Bush mask whilst riding her red tie before ripping the disguise to pieces. However, it’s her riotous shower/bathtub routine sprinkled with dramatic wet hair flips in her American stars and stripes bikini that will get you up and off your feet for a standing ovation. Letitia Stitch will also be gracing the stage at The Cinematic Sinners Presents: Burlesque the Movie this Sunday 2 June at Nineteen Ten, as well as Strong Female Character from Friday 31 May – Saturday 1 June at Prompt Creative Centre

A staple in every early 2000s playlist is always some good old fashioned RnB: the soundtrack of the naughty noughties. Not only is the genre the superior option to boogie to – it turns out it’s the ultimate backing track to hula hoop to! Hula hoopist extraordinaire Selena Sol makes the hula hoop her b*tch as Lose Control by Missy Elliot throws audiences back to their messy clubbing days. The flashing light patterns of the hula hoop combined with Selena Sol’s insane hand-eye coordination skills will leave you dazzled, hyped up and really wishing you stuck with your hula hooping hobby when you were a kid.

Another act hailing from Melbourne is Cora Noire, who masters the art of sultry slink on stage with her tribute to early 2000s nu metal set to the sexy sounds of Deftones’ Rx Queen. Wrapped head to toe in a seductive black lace number, Cora Noire pushes the human limits of flexibility with her chair routine that will turn your world upside down (not to mention wishing you were sitting on that chair). Cora Noire’s striking signature red hair, air of sophisticated seduction and art of the tease will set your soul on fire as you add Deftones to your “making magic” playlist (if you know, you know). Be sure to keep an eye out for Cora Noire as she also stars in The Cinematic Sinners Presents: Burlesque the Movie this Sunday 2 June at Nineteen Ten

The grand finale sees the Queen of Sin herself Vivienne Von Coffin get down and Dirty to pop icon Christina Aguilera’s naughtiest hit of the noughties. Looking like a cowgirl fantasy in assless chaps and a neon green fringe get up, she shimmies her way across stage with irresistible prowess. Full of sass and with plenty of ass, you won’t be able to keep your eyes off of her as she makes slxt dropping and getting low look so easy yet so damn good.

A smouldering, seductive nostalgia fest, Naughty Noughties is a fun, funky and loose production: just like the early 2000s were in a nutshell. Containing all the greatest hits just like a So Fresh CD, this is the perfect show to gather all your girlfriends together to go and see. We can’t wait to see what’s next for producer and performer on the rise Phoebe Ophidia and will be sure to keep an eye out for what other mischief and mayhem she gets up to.
